Is it possible that in the next 6 months we will be using pictures instead of passwords to unlock our smartphones and tablets? This week at the cybersecurity gathering PasswordsCon in Las Vegas, we got our first look at what the future might hold.
Sam Crowther, founder of uSig, has developed an app that lets you pick a photo on your device as your password to a Web service, then transmits that as a 512 character long password.
This will make hackers life a little bit harder, going from passwords that are 8-20 characters long to a safe encrypted network over 500 characters long.
